Marx Schrum passed away at his home on Center Street at 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, May 3, 1928, after a stroke of paralysis.

He was born March 14, 1852, in Wrohm, Norder Dithmarschen, Germany. He spent his youthful days in his native country.

In 1879 he was married to Miss Christine Vehrs, to which union were born 12 children. In 1880 he came to America and settled on a farm near Denison. They farmed for 43 years, until 1923, when they retired and moved to Manning.

He passed away at the age of 76 years, 1 month, and 19 days, leaving to mourn his death his wife and nine children, four sons, Herman of Bradley, South Dakota; Willie, Gus, and Hugo of Manning, and five daughters, Anne, Mrs. Julius Ewoldt; Mary, Mrs. Fred Stammer, and Miss Amanda Schrum of Manning; Emma, Mrs. August F. Schroeder of Egan, South Dakota; Alvina, Mrs. Louis F. Schroeder of Egan, South Dakota. Also 26 grandchildren, two brothers and a sister in Germany.

Funeral services were held last Sunday at the Lutheran Church, Rev. Johann M. Ansorge officiating. Interment in the Manning Cemetery.
