Mrs. Werner dies at 76 in
local hospital

Mrs. Martha Werner, 76, died Tuesday at a local hospital
following an extended illness. She had been a resident of Jenkins Methodist
home since 1961.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church
preceded by a family devotion in the church parlors. The Rev. Dr. Gustav K. Van
Tassel will officiate and burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Shaw-Messer Funeral Chapel from 2 to 5:30 and 7 to 9
p.m. Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.
Mrs. Werner was born August 13, 1896, at Audubon, Iowa, the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Adolph Frentz. She attended a school for the
deaf in Detroit, Michigan. She married Louis C. Werner at Watertown December
28, 1921. Following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Werner farmed near Howard until
1926 when they returned to Watertown. Mr. Werner died in 1955.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Michael (Anna) Dakunchak,
Royal Oak, Michigan; one son, Dr. Louis C. Werner, Watertown; six
grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
The Werner Chiropractic Clinic will be closed all day Friday.
