Marjorie D. Morse, 83, of Fort Dodge, died Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at the Tompkins Memorial Health Center.
The service honoring Marjorie's life will be 9:30 a.m. on Monday, August 20 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Anita Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Red Oak at 3:30 p.m. The visitation is Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Hospice.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents.
Marjorie D. Morse, the daughter of Jesse and Signe (Johnson) Morse, was born February 6, 1929, in Red Oak. She graduated from Red Oak High School in 1947 and attended Red Oak Junior College before graduating from Clarinda Junior College in 1952. She received her Bachelor of Science in 1957 and her Masters of Science Education in 1973 from Northwest Missouri State. Marjorie taught in country schools near Red Oak, and in the Manning, Iowa, Independent School District before coming to Fort Dodge where she taught in the Fort Dodge Community Schools from 1956 to 1991, first serving as a principal and classroom teacher at Cooper, and as a classroom teacher at Riverside, Arey and Duncombe.
Marjorie was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Grace Women of ELCA, past member of the Church Council, Iowa State Education Association, National Education Association, Business and Professional Women of Fort Dodge and Retired School Personnel.
Note: Marjorie taught First Grade at Manning from 1953 through 1955.
