Marjorie was born on December 19, 1918, in Manning, Iowa, to Fred and Rosa (Wenzel) Rutz. She was raised in Manning and graduated from Manning High School in 1937. She attended a nurse’s training program in St. Louis, Missouri. On September 16, 1947, she was married to Max Mintle in Fairfield, Iowa, and to this union was born one son, Michael. The family lived in Massachusetts and Maryland before moving to Dixon, Illinois. Following the death of her husband in 1960 she moved to Iowa City. She received a BA Degree in nursing from the University of Iowa and taught in the nurse’s training program at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. She retired in 1980. Marjorie was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Iowa City. She enjoyed a healthy lifestyle of organic foods and exercising. She walked five miles per day for many years. She also created and marketed greeting cards. Survivors include her son, Michael Mintle of Victor; and one brother, Burton J. Rutz of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and two brothers: Harold and Amos.
