Marita Schelle
Marita Schelle, age 83, of Breda, Iowa, died Wednesday evening, June 18, 2008, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Monday, June 23, 2008, at St. Bernard Church in Breda. The Celebrant will be Father James McAlpin. Lector will be Rita Ann Venner. Gift Bearers will be Brenda Kowalski, Katie Schelle, and Laura Bortz. Mass Servers will be Ryan Schelle, Adam Schelle, and Matt Wessling. Eucharistic Ministers will be Carmen Ludwig, Bev Bruning, and Norma Kennebeck. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mrs. Schelle’s grandchildren. Casket Bearers will be Mark Olsen, Greg Olsen, Phil Brammer, Chris Brammer, Jeremiah Ludwig, and Steve Scharfenkamp. Burial will be at St. Bernard Cemetery in Breda.

Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Breda after 2:30 P.M. Sunday. A rosary will be prayed at 3 P.M. Sunday by St. Bernard Ladies Guild. There will be a Christian wake service at 7 P.M. Sunday by St. Bernard Parish. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or church in Mrs. Schelle's name.

Mrs. Schelle was born on September 13, 1924, at Manning, Iowa, the daughter of Philip and Katie (Muxen) Signall. She attended the Manning Community School and in 1933 her family moved to Carroll where she attended St. Joseph School and graduated from St. Angela Academy in 1942. Following high school she was employed by the F.S.A. Office in Carroll for seven years.

On January 18, 1949, she was married to Wilmer Schelle at St. Joseph Church in Carroll with Msgr. P.T. Lynch officiating. The couple farmed in the Halbur and Manning area and in 1956 moved to their farm north of Breda. The Schelle's moved to their home in Breda in 1984 and she was employed part time by the Lenz Insurance Agency. She was a member of St. Bernard Parish, Parish Ladies Guild, and a thirty-year member of the St. Bernard Choir. Mrs. Schelle enjoyed her family, canning, sewing, and quilting.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wilmer Schelle, in December 1995; a brother, Howard Signall; sisters, Eileen Stone and her husband Reuben and Florence Scharfenkamp and her husband Joe; son-in-law, Terry Olsen; and brother-in-law, Harold Shanahan.
