She was born February 17, 1892, in Carroll County, Iowa, the daughter of Heinrich and Christina (Sievers) Heesch. She attended Business College in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and then moved with her family to Pipestone where she married Dr. Rokus Schaap June 22, 1920. Her husband operated a veterinary practice there until 1946 when they moved to Battle Lake.
After her husband's death in 1950 she built the Rokmar Resort on Battle Lake and operated it until June of 1973. She was a member of the Golden Rod Chapter O.E.S., the American Legion Auxiliary, and an honorary member of the State Veterinary Association Auxiliary.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Philip (Irene) C. Olson, Battle Lake; a son, Donald, Mesa, Arizona; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Sextus (Irene) Donaldson, Battle Lake; and Mrs. John (Emma) Schrum, Manning, Iowa; three brothers, William and Herman Heesch, both of Pipestone, and Emil Heesch, Loveland, Colorado.
Visitation all day and evening Thursday and Friday morning at the Nilson Funeral Horne, Battle Lake.
