Mrs. Christian Petersen

Marie Dorathea Hagedorn was born in Hayes Township, Crawford County, Iowa, March 23, 1884, and passed her life at her home in Manning, September 27, 1926, at the age of 42 years, 6 months, 3 days. She lived in and around Manning all her life and was well and favorably known by a large circle of friends. On June 17th she went to the Carroll Hospital where she underwent four operations in an effort to get her health again. She suffered a great deal and made a brave fight for life. Though all was done that could be done to bring health and relieve her pain, her time came to answer the last call from God and she passed on to her reward. She was baptized in the Lutheran Church and passed away in its faith.

On May 7, 1907, she was united in marriage to Mr. Christian Petersen at Audubon, Iowa. They lived on a farm in Lincoln Township until 1915 when they moved to Manning where they have since resided.

One son, William Clarence, was born to this union, who with her husband survives her. Little Lavon Lebeck, whom she had taken into her home and loved and cared for with a mother's love, also survives her.

She was the oldest child of Henry John and Maria (Moore) Hagedorn, her mother having preceded her in death October 25, 1914. Her father, her stepmother, eight brothers and two sisters also survive her. The brother and sisters are: Gus, Charles, Willie, and Otto, Manning; Mrs. Rosa Prickett, Lake City, Iowa; Henry and Louis, Manning; Herman, Pontiac, Michigan; John, and Mrs. T.A. Kampen, Des Moines, Iowa.

The bereaved family has the sympathy of her many friends.

Rev. E.E. Zimmerman had charge of the funeral service in the Presbyterian Church at four o'clock in the afternoon. Burial was in the Manning Cemetery.
