Mrs. M. Puck, 90

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaretha (Joens) Puck, 90, were held Monday at 2:00 at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, with the; Rev Carl Sinning of the First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial was in the Manning cemetery, with sons acting as pallbearers.

Mrs Puck died at her home here Friday morning, following a lengthy illness.

She was born on May 14, 1867, in Exsde, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. In 1884, at the age of 18, she came to the U.S. directly to the Westside area. On July 18, 1888, she married William Puck, who died in 1927.

She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith, and educated in the schools at Exsde. She is survived by seven sons, namely, Pete at home; George, Albert, William and Harry of Manning; Adolph of Manilla, and Edward of Gray; five daughters: Mrs. Henry (Elvina) Ewoldt, Mrs. Minnie (Ella) Clausen, home; Mrs. Ralph (Frieda) Berkheimer, and Maggie, all of Manning; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Puck and her daughter, Ella, moved to Manning from the home farm in 1936. She was preceded in death by her husband and two children: Laura and Bernard.

Margaretha was the last of her family.


Margaretha Puck is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
