Margaret Ranniger

1923
The passing of Mrs. Will Ranniger, whose maiden name was Margaret Hinrichs, was a sad blow to those who knew and loved her. She was born in Scott County, Iowa, on December 11th, 1867. When she was six years old her parents moved west to Crawford County, where they engaged in farming. The deceased attended the country school in the neighborhood, and until her marriage she lived at home with her parents. Her marriage took place on April 14, 1887, to Mr. Will Ranniger. This young couple, with life before them, settled down to farming.

The hardships of that pioneer life were many; but by hard work, good management, and an optimism that overcame all difficulties, they prospered. Two years ago they retired from that strenuous life and moved to Aspinwall, where they lived in comfort, peace and happiness until the angel of death claimed the good mother and wife. She was ill but for a comparatively short time, but she was brave, and when she closed her eyes in sleep on the morning of January 11th, she died so only to wake in the eternal morning where there is 'no more sorrow, night, suffering or death.

There were six children borne into the Ranniger home five of whom are still living: Louie, Mrs. C.L. Farrell, Carroll, Mrs. August Gruhn, Manilla, Julius and Mrs. Louie Koester of Aspinwall.

The deceased also leaves to mourn her loss eleven grandchildren and three sisters: Mrs. Theodore Scheser of Scott County, Mrs. Tim Anthony, Carroll County, and Mrs. Fred Miller, Carroll.

Funeral services were held in the home in Aspinwall on January 13th, conducted by the Rev. H. Coates, after which the remains were interred in the Manning Cemetery.
