Margaret Mary, daughter of John and Jennie (Muhlbauer) Singsank, was born May 14, 1930, near Templeton, Iowa. After Margaret completed her education in country school near her home, she worked out in the homes of other family members.

On November 18, 1947, Margaret was united in marriage with Russell Raymond Popp in Manning. Four children were born to this union. The family made their home in Manning before they took up farming and farmed near Manning, Vail, and Dow City. Margaret and Russell lived in Ute for 25 years before fully retiring in the late 1990s, and moving to Auburn.

Margaret's Christian faith was very important to her and she was most recently a member of St. Mary's Church when living in Auburn. After moving to St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll in March of 2004, she attended mass regularly at the nursing home. Throughout her life Margaret was an avid reader and she also enjoyed embroidery and ceramic painting.

During the time of her hospitalization and move to the nursing home, Margaret's husband's health was also failing. Russell died on March 24, 2004. Amazingly, Margaret rebounded from her severe health problems and lived in St. Anthony Nursing Home until her death on Wednesday, February 13, 2008, at the age of 77 years, 8 months and 30 days.
Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

Besides her parents and husband, Margaret was preceded in death by son Russell S. Popp in 2006; brother, Glenn Singsank and 2 brothers-in-law Donald Berg and Don Wilson.

She is survived by her children: Cheryl and husband Robert Zobel of Sioux City; James Popp of Howard Center in Sac City; Lori Miller-Tovaas and husband Patrick Tovaas of Johnstown, Colorado; three grandchildren: Jennifer Zobel of Springfield, Missouri; Valori Zobel of Omaha, Nebraska; and Andrew Miller of Yuma, Arizona; brother, Earl Singsank and wife Jean of Manning; sisters: Ardella Berg of Westside; Verna and husband Merlin Hass of Manning; Laurel and husband Earl Vogl of Carroll; and Cleo and husband Gary Hansen of Overland Park, Kansas; sisters-in-law Connie Singsank of Manning and Phillis Popp Wilson of Hesperia, California; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
