Mardella Rae Newman, 57, died November 24, 1995, at Desert Hospital in Palm Springs, California. She was a resident of Cathedral City for 10 years.

She was born January 19, 1938, in Manning, Iowa, to Eunice Ranniger and Raymond Friedrichsen. She graduated from Manning High School in 1956.

She married Melvin R. Newman in 1956 in Manning.

Mrs. Newman was a self-employed nursing assistant for 28 years and a community worker for Child Care Services.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Monte R. Newman and Mark R. Newman, both of Desert Hot Springs, and Michael R. Newman of Cathedral City; a sister, Marcia Moeller of Iowa; her mother, Eunice Friedrichsen of Denison, Iowa; and six grandchildren. Visitation will be 1-1:45 p.m. Monday at Christ Lutheran Church, 66-290 Estrella Ave., in Desert Hot Springs.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the church.

Burial will be at Palm Springs Mausoleum in Cathedral City.
