MALINDA E. WALTER VINKE
Funeral services for Malinda E. Walter Vinke were held Wednesday, August 7, 1985 at
2:00 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Pastor Paul Krumm officiated with
Dorothy Kusel as organist and the Zion Lutheran Quartet and the congregation providing
the music.
Interment was in Manning City Cemetery with Wayne Elwell, Larry Sievertsen, Dean
Walter, Roger Weinbrandt, David Walter and Louis Schwiesow as casketbearers.
Ohde Funeral Home in Manning was in charge of arrangements.
Malinda, daughter of William and Amelia Kai Walter, was born May 25, 1904, in Hayes Township, Crawford County, Iowa. She received her schooling near her home. Malinda was baptized as an infant in the Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Later she was confirmed and became a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. She also belonged to the Ladies Guild.
On February 25, 1925, she was united in marriage with Henry Vinke at Denison, Iowa. They farmed northwest of Manning where they lived for 26 years. In 1951 they purchased a home in Manning where they lived for 29 years. Malinda worked at Priebe and Sons and later worked at the Manning Hospital for 13 years. In May of 1980 they sold their home and moved to the Terrace Apartments.
Malinda had been in failing health for one month before her death on Monday, August 5, 1985, at Des Moines General Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 81 years, 2 months, and 10 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by two brothers, William Walter and Alfred Walter; and by four sisters: Anna Weinbrandt, Mamie Steiner, Emma Vinke, and Leona Walter.
Malinda is survived by her husband, Henry, of Manning; by two sisters: Cecil Sievertsen of Harlan; and Arlene Elwell and her husband, Charles, of Charter Oak; by two brothers: Louis Walter and his wife, Marian, of Council Bluffs; and Ivan Walter and his wife, Florence, of Worthington, Minnesota; by nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
