Funeral services were held today, Monday, December 28, at 2 p.m. at United Methodist Church in Manilla with the Rev. Anita Johnson officiating.
Burial was at Nishnabotna Cemetery in Manila.
Casket bearers were Hal Cadwell, Bob Sleister, Vyrl Cadwell, Don Gessman, Everett Quick, and Ron Howell.
Mrs. Pace was born January 3, 1910, on a homestead near Wendte, South Dakota, a daughter of Lorn and Lydia (Zimmer) Miler. She was only a few days old when her natural mother died and she was raised by her Aunt Laura (Zimmer) Wittrup and her husband in Minnesota.
When she was 14 years old, her aunt died and she then lived among her Wittrup brothers and sisters.
After her schooling and one year of vocational business school, she moved to Iowa where she became a practical nurse for many years. She then moved to Irwin where she cared for her Grandmother Zimmer and UncleJohn, who was an invalid.
On September 18, 1944, she was married to Jesse Jackson Pace. They lived on their farm near Manilla until they retired and moved to Manning.
Mrs. Pace was a member of the Methodist Church, where she served as Sunday school superintendent for a number of years, and United Methodist Women, where she served several terms as president.
She was selected to receive the Mission Recognition Pin for her work in the church and a monetary gift was sent to the Missions in her name.
Mrs. Pace is survived by two daughters, Jeanette Holt and her husband, Norman, of Lakewood, Colo., and Ellen Howell and her husband, Ronald, of Clinton, Illinois; four grandchildren, Susan and Jennifer Holt and Ryan and Tam Howell; and one sister, Mildred Wittmack, of Sioux Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; 10 Miler brothers and sisters; and eight Wittrup brothers and sisters.
