LYDIA ANNA MATILDA MUSFELDT

A funeral service for Lydia Anna Matilda Musfeldt of Manning will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 3, 1996, at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. Mrs. Musfeldt, 93, died Monday, October 1, 1996, at Manning Plaza, her home the last four months. Pastors Robert Riggert and Curt Dwyer will officiate the service. Casket bearers will be Paul Younie, David Younie, Steve Musfeldt, Dale Musfeldt, Craig Musfeldt, Kent Musfeldt, Kurt Musfeldt and Jon Musfeldt. Honorary casket bearers will be Martha Holtorf, Linda Dreessen, Susan Musfeldt, Barbara Tapscot, Sheryl Doona and Shannon Petersen. Burial will be in Manning Cemetery.

A daughter of John and Martha (Wenzel) Asmus, she was born August 16, 1903, in East Boyer Township in Crawford County. The family moved to Manning and she attended school there.

She and Herman Musfeldt were married February 3, 1927. The Musfeldts farmed in the Manning area. Mrs. Musfeldt was a homemaker. They moved into Manning in 1962. Mr. Musfeldt died March 18, 1978, and Mrs. Musfeldt moved into the Terrace Apartments in 1984.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the Dorcas Society and participated in Bible study.

Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Younie, of Yankton, South Dakota; three sons and their wives: David and Mary Ann Musfeldt of Arcadia, Tom and Lee Ann Musfeldt of Manilla and Sam and Judy Musfeldt of Manning; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two sisters: Verna Carstens of Manilla and Alma Vollmer of Manning.

Mrs. Musfeldt was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son-in-law, Don Younie; a brother, Merlin Asmus; and six sisters: Linda (in infancy), Helen Smith, Marie Brady, Amanda Ewoldt, Pauline Jurgensen, and Anna Boyens.
