Born on August 10, 1920, near Manning, Iowa, she was the daughter of Walter and Henrietta (Strathman) Ossenkop. She grew up on her family's farm near Manning and attended country school at Hayes No. 7 in Crawford County. She was married to Elmer Stoffers on March 14, 1940. They made their home 2 miles northwest of Arcadia where Louise was a housewife and partner in their farming operation. While living in Arcadia, Elmer and Louise were active members of Zion Lutheran Church. In 1981 they retired from farming and moved to Carroll where they were members of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Louise enjoyed many years as a volunteer at New Hope Village and St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed flower gardening, traveling, dancing, and spending time with her family and many good friends.
Louise is survived by a son Roger Stoffers and his wife Carlene of Fremont, California; her twin daughters: Anita Buescher and her husband John of Folsom, California, and Annette Phillips and her husband Jim of Roseville, California; five grandchildren: Tracy Phelps (Kent), Stephen Lewis (Katie), Matthew Buescher (Sarah) Timothy Buescher and Erin Bartucco (Rick) and her five great-grandchildren: Emma, Sophie, Hailey, Trey, and Hannah; two sisters-in-law: Blondina Stoffers of Carroll and Adele Stoffers of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
