Service was held for Louise Philpott, Saturday, December 11, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. at Ohde Funeral Home in Manning, Iowa. Reverend Daniel Vogel of Zion Lutheran Church, Manning, Iowa, officiated. Carolyn Kerkhoff was organist. Interment was held at Manning Cemetery, Manning, Iowa, with Gene Philpott, Larry Philpott, Randy Nissen, Bill Bruhn, Bruce Bruhn, and Edward Bruhn.
Louise Eldora, daughter of William and Wilhelmina Emma Marguerite (Hansen) Bruhn, was born August 3, 1929, in Manning, Iowa. She lived with her family south of Manning in Lincoln Township, Audubon County where she attended school. Louise was baptized and confirmed a Trinity Lutheran Church in Lincoln Township.
After completing her schooling, Louise worked for other families in the area caring for small children. She then moved to Red Oak to work at the battery factory where she met Armand Philpott
They were united in marriage in 1951. Two sons were born to this union.
In 1963 the family moved to Culver City, California, Louise worked as an inspector for Anderson Tool Company and then Bay Swiss Manufacturing checking parts for the space shuttle program before they left the factory. When Bay Swiss moved to Carson City, Nevada, in 1989, she moved with them to work there until her retirement in 1996. Armand died in 1997.
Louise was a 'doer'. Throughout the years she enjoyed playing softball and golf and riding motorcycles in the desert. She was also an accomplished bowler, bowling in several team tournaments throughout California and Nevada.
When Louise began suffering with Alzheimer's disease, she moved back to Culver City to be near her two sons. On Saturday, December 4, 2004, she died at Brotman Medical Center in Culver City, California, at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 1 day.
Preceding Louise in death are her parents, husband and two brothers Herb and George Bruhn.
She is survived by her two sons Gene Philpott and Larry Philpott, both of Culver City, California; two sisters Edna Nissen of Manning and Ann and husband
Phil Stillman of Emmetsburg; brother William Bruhn and wife Louise of Manning; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
