Mrs. Louisa H. Smith died at her home in Manning Thursday morning, June 26, 1895, and will be buried in the South Wall Lake Cemetery, Wall Lake, Iowa, 2 1/2 miles south of town today. Mrs. Smith was a daughter of Henry Hoft.

She was born March 22, 1869, to Henry and Bertha (Giese) Hoft.

She married Charles Edward Schmidt in 1889; he is buried in the Manning, Iowa, Cemetery. They had two children, Verna and Karl Schmidt.
