LOUIS C. SUHR

Louis C. Suhr, 68, who was injured in an accident September 4, 1970, when he fell into an open grave while working with Lynn Justice (preparing for the Amos Kusel burial service) at the Manning Cemetery, died early Thursday morning, September 10, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Manning Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Robert Rushing officiating.

Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery. Ohde Funeral Home in Manning is in charge of arrangements.

Organist for the funeral services will be Bonita Hagedorn and Ray Pratt and Clifford M. Johnson will be vocalists. Pallbearers are Verl Wurr, Gerald Beck, Gilbert Peters, George Graves, Dean Stribe, and Harold Schmidt.

Mr. Suhr was born October 11, 1901, in Otter Creek Township, Crawford County, the son of Mamie Karsten and John C. Suhr. He attended schools in Iowa Township and in Manilla.

On June 30, 1926, he was married to Annie Irene Larvy at Denison. They have lived in Manning since their marriage.

For the past 43 years, Mr. Suhr was the electrical generator engine operator; first for Iowa Public Service, and later for Manning Municipal Light Plant. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and has served in many church offices.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

Mr. Suhr is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Norma) Havranek, of Rockville, Maryland; one son, Robert Suhr, of Los Angeles, California; and two granddaughters, Nancy and Lucinda Havranek.
