Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2 at Ohde Funeral Home at Manning for Louis Schroeder of Aspinwall. Rev. C.W. Schmidt of Denison was in charge of the services. Mr. Schroeder died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Amanda Clausen, Wednesday, August 21, 1963. He had made his home with her for the past eight and a half years.
Louis Schroeder, son of Jochim and Augustine nee Hansen, was born, July 31, 1871, at Center Township, Clinton County. In 1889 he came with his parents to Crawford County and lived on a farm northwest of Aspinwall.
February 24, 1893, he was married to Mary Lemster. Six children were born to this union, William of Manilla, Amanda Clausen, Harry and Emma (Mrs. John Schilling) all of Aspinwall and Florence (Mrs. Henry Thomssen) of Manning. His wife Mary and one daughter (Margarete) preceded him in death, also four brothers and one sister.
Mr. Schroeder was baptized in the Lutheran faith and in 1939 upon confirmation became a member of the Denison Lutheran church of which he attended faithfully until his hearing became poor.
Mr. and Mrs. Schroeder lived in and near Aspinwall almost all of their married life. In 1908, he moved to the town of Aspinwall. In 1910 he was appointed as secretary of Aspinwall Independent School and held that office for 35 years. In 1914, when the town of Aspinwall was incorporated, he was appointed mayor and held that office for five years and in 1939 he became manager of the Aspinwall Lumber yard and served in that capacity for nine years.
He is survived by two sons and three daughters, 14 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. The following brothers and sisters, also survive: Joe Schroeder of Jackson, Minnesota; August Schroeder of Round Lake, Minnesota; Mrs. Lena Schuett, Crofton, Nebraska; Fred J. Schroeder, Denison and Herman Schroeder of Loveland, Colorado.
Burial was made in the Manning Cemetery with six grandsons as pallbearers, Ronald and Robert Schilling, LaVerne and Donald Schroeder, Larry Thomssen and Wallace Schroeder. Organist Griencke and a quartet furnished music at the service.

Mr. and Mrs. August Schroeder of Round Lake, Minnesota, Mrs. Dora Schroeder, Mrs. Emma Marquardt of Schleswig, Fred J. Schroeder and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schroeder of Denison, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Jepson of Denison, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Reinke of Charter Oak, Mr. and Mrs. Fritz Carstensen, Wayne Schroeder and Edward Marquardt all of Ida Grove, Mr. and Mrs. Laverne Schroeder of Council Bluffs, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schilling of York, Nebraska, Mrs. James Christensen of Omaha and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Schroeder of Des Moines.
