Louis F. Schroeder, son of Henry and Anna Schroeder, was born December 30, 1890, in Crawford County near Manning, Iowa, and there remained until young manhood.
In 1911, he came to South Dakota to work. He later returned to Manning, where he was married to Alvina M. Schrum, February 11, 1914. In the spring of that year the couple came to Moody County to make their home on a farm southeast of Egan.

The Schroeders had just observed their 39th wedding anniversary this month.
Mr. Schroeder passed away suddenly at his home on February 16, 1953, at the age of 62 years, 1 month and 17 days.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and had been, for many years, a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Egan.
Funeral services were held from the Methodist church in Egan on February 19, and interment was made in the Egan Hillside Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Martin Dierks, Adolf Beyers, George Stombaugh, Creston Waxdahl, Ralph Jackson, and Charles Pagel.
Mr. Schroeder is survived by his wife and three children. He also leaves five grandchildren, four brothers, Henry of Egan, Herman and August of Flandreau and Johannes of Manning, and three sisters, Mrs. C.H.
