Louie Wiese, 86, died Wednesday, February 8, 1984, at the Manilla Manor Nursing Home where he had been a resident since October 3, 1979.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 11, at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manilla with the Rev. John Cornish, minister of the Manilla United Methodist Church, officiating. Carolyn Miller will be vocalist, accompanied by Barbara Agan. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery. Serving as casketbearers will be grandsons: Terry Sigler, Tom Hargens, Lonny Hargens, Kent Wiese, Kyle Wiese, and Drew Wiese.
Mr. Wiese is survived by his wife, Elsa; two sons: Milford Wiese and his wife, Norma, Manning, and Dewey Wiese and his wife, Jerene, Manilla; a daughter, Donna Hargens, Manilla; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; a brother, Henry Wiese, Manilla Manor Nursing Home, Manilla; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Mrs. Eddie (Marcella) Johnson, four brothers: Bill, Conrad, Fred, and Herbert, and two sisters: Anna Hargens and Alma Grau.
Mr. Wiese was born September 18, 1897, in Audubon County, a son of Frederick and Matilda (Gottsch) Wiese. He was married to Elsa Boyens on September 17, 1919, at Carroll. He lived most of his life around Manilla.
After farming for some time, he worked for the Milwaukee Railroad, Rasmussen Lumber Company, Manilla Community Schools and the City of Manilla.
