Rites will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the United Church of Westside North, with the Rev. Lyle. B. Greiner, officiating. Burial will be in the Westside Cemetery.
Masonic Memorial services will be held at 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Ohde Funeral Home, Manning.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Frank Hoffmann, John Oeser, William O. Stoelk, Marvin Rehbein, Walter Noelck, Walter Johnson, and Wesley Stoelk. Active Pallbearers will be Dick Blair, Leonard Gehlsen, Larry Thiedeman, Ted Kraus, Roger Meehan, and Dean Bornhoft.
Music will include "How Great Thou Art" and "Rock of Ages" sung by Mrs. Judy Joens of Manning. Organist will be Mrs. Harvey Freese of Arcadia.
Louie was born December 25, 1875, in Hayes Township, Crawford County, son of Claus and Margaretha (Gruenwaldt) Thiedeman.
On March 9, 1904, he married Caroline "Lena" Anthony and they farmed on the Thiedeman home place five miles southwest of Westside until retiring and moving into town in 1932.
Mrs. Thiedeman died July 11, 1970.
He was active in community affairs. For 32 years he served on the Westside School Board. He was a member of the board of directors of the Westside State Savings Bank for many years and at the time of his death was chairman of the board. He was a lifelong member of Hayes Township Schuetzen Verein.
Mr. Thiedeman was a member of Setting Sun Lodge No. 349, A.F. & A.M. at Westside; Copestone Chapter No. 78; Royal Arch Masons; Azgad Commandery No. 63; Knights Templar, and Cryptic Council No. 38; Royal and Select Masters; all at Carroll.
He also was a member of the United Church, Westside, and has held many offices in the church.
Surviving are a daughter, Lydia, at home; a son, Irwin of Westside; two grandsons, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife, Mr. Thiedeman was preceded in death by a
son, Horace; two brothers and three sisters.
