The Ohde Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Manning Cemetery with Wilbur Hill, Allan Johnson, J. Darall Darr, Glen Jensen, Ronny Frahm, Merlin Struve as casketbearers.
Lorane Dorothy, daughter of Bernard and Leona (Wieck) Kahler, was born February 23, 1917, at Waltham, Minnesota. She graduated from the Denison High School in 1936 and then attended the Van Sants Business College in Omaha. She taught in the Schleswig schools until 1945.
She was united in marriage with Ralph H. McGrath July 19, 1941, at Tacoma, Washington. After her husband was discharged from the Armed Forces they returned to Manning to make their home. Since 1962 Lorane has been employed at the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation at Carroll. Her husband, Ralph died July 21, 1972.
Lorane was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Manning, the Martha Circle of the church and a member of the Wa-Tan-Ye Club.
Following a lengthy illness she passed away early Sunday, March 25, 1979, at the Manning General Hospital at the age of 62 years, 1 month and 2 days.
Beside her husband she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Roland.
She is survived by two daughters; Sandra, Mrs. Ray Sorensen of Prairie Village, Kansas, and Vicki, Mrs. Jeff Hannasch of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. By three grandchildren; Eric and Mathew Sorensen and Jonna Hannasch. She is also survived by two sisters; Mildred, Mrs. Leslie Slechta of Vail and Mrs. Opal Bockelmann of Denison, as well as by many other relatives and friends.
