Lolida, daughter of August and Caroline (Tank) Schroeder, was born August 2, 1905, near Westside in Crawford County, Iowa. She attended country school near her home. Following her schooling, Lolida helped on the family farm.

On October 7, 1925, Lolida was united in marriage with Edwin “Brownie” Wegner at the Presbyterian Church in Denison. Three sons were born to this union. Lolida and Brownie farmed in the Aspinwall area before settling on a farm near Manning. On October 29, 1958, Brownie died and Lolida moved into Manning shortly thereafter. Lolida enjoyed bowling, playing cards, crocheting and tatting. She especially enjoyed the company of her grandchildren and baking cookies for them.

Lolida was able to remain in her own home until July 1, 1999, when she became a resident of Manning Plaza Nursing Home. She died there Thursday, September 6, 2001, at the age of 96 years, 1 month and 4 days.

Lolida was preceded in death by her parents, husband, nine brothers and sisters: Clara Petersen, Willie Schroeder, Albert Schroeder, George Schroeder, Alma Myers, Harry Schroeder, Herbert Schroeder, Hilda Karsten and Otto Schroeder; a granddaughter Tamara Wegner; and a daughter-in-law Shirley Hansen Wegner.

She is survived by three sons: Duane Wegner and his wife Arlene of Manning; Robert Wegner of Manning; Allen Wegner and his wife Joyce of Fairfax, Virginia; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
