Lois Marie, daughter of Max and Amelia (Vinke) Weinbrandt, was born on February 26, 1926, in Hayes Township, Crawford County, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. She was joined in marriage with LeRoy Schagt on August 27, 1947. The couple farmed north of Schleswig. She was very active in her church and at the time of her death was one of the chairwomen of the Ladies Aid.

She entered the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison about two weeks ago. During this time her condition improved and she planned on getting out of the hospital for her son's wedding. She died unexpectedly early Friday, February 14, 1975, on her son's wedding day.

She is survived by her husband LeRoy Schagt of Ida Grove; one daughter Jeannie, wife of Dana Jorgensen of Arapahoe, Nebraska; one son, Ronnie of Manilla and his wife Mary; her mother, Mrs. Amelia Weinbrandt of Manning; three sisters, Donna, wife of Donald Koch of Charter Oak, Myra, wife of James Jensen of Mesa, Arizona, and Beverly, wife of Kenneth Hollander of Harlan. She attained to 48 years, 11 months, and 18 days.
