Lester D. Wiese, a lifelong resident of the Manning area, died Sunday, September 8, 1991, at Manning General Hospital.
Mr. Wiese, 92, was a well-known Hereford cattle breeder and agriculturalist. He was co-founder of Wiese and Sons, a Hereford cattle and farming business in Manning.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 11 at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning. The Rev. Marshall Brown of the First Presbyterian Church will officiate.
Burial is in the Manning City Cemetery.
Casket bearers are Lyle Arp, Bill Bruhn, Richard Crandall, Orland Fara, Lyle Gross, and Jack Lorenzen.
Visitation begins after 4 p.m. Tuesday at Ohde Funeral Home, Manning.
Mr. Wiese was born November 5, 1898, at Westside, a son of Edward and Lucia (Stuedeman) Wiese. As a youth, he moved with his family to the Manning area where he graduated from Manning High School in 1917.
On October 11, 1925, he married Helen Spurrier.
Survivors include two sons and their spouses: Sam and Millicent Wiese and Gene and Jean Wiese, of Manning; six grandchildren: Barbara Wiese, of Phoenix, Arizona; Mary Wiese, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Nancy Wiese, of Loveland, Ohio; Helen Ohde, of Manning; David Wiese of Manning; and Kathryn Wiese Morton of Ames; and a sister, Edna Nelson of Holmen, Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his wife, one grandson, Douglas Wiese, and a sister, Leona Jones.
