Leone I. Shol

Leone I. Shol, 91, of Moorhead, died Saturday, November 27, 1993, at her home.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Moorhead Christian Church, with the Rev. Virgil W. Willits officiating. Burial will be in Spring Valley Cemetery, rural Moorhead, Iowa. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Pearson Funeral Home an Onawa.

Mrs. Shol was born November 1, 1902, at Manning, Iowa, daughter of Henry and Bertha (Croft) Stolley. She moved to Moorhead as a child and graduated from the Harlan, Iowa, High School. She married Elmer Shol March 25, 1923, at Council Bluffs, Iowa. They farmed near Moorhead until moving into town in 1957. Mr. Shol died June 8, 1978, at Sioux City.

She was a homemaker and a lay midwife, having assisted in over 60 births. She was a founding member of the Jolly Pastime Club, and a member of the Moorhead Christian Church. She was a musician, having played piano for area nursing home residents for several years.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Juhl (Bernadine) Hansen and Mrs. Deryle (Darlene) Bowen of Moorhead; three sons, Ronald and Robert of Moorhead, and Howard of Castana, Iowa; two sisters, Lou Pearey of Cambridge, Iowa, and Alice Crews of Moorhead; a brother, George of Bonner's Ferry, Idaho; and a sister-in-law, Doris Burson of Soldier, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, Rhonda Cline and Rodbey Hansen, an infant great-grandson and three sisters, Lenore Sanders, Eileen Seaton, and Nadine Johnson.
