On Oct. 9, 1946, Leola married with Max Duane Timmerman at the Presbyterian Church in Manning. They moved to Audubon in 1948 where Max co- owned the Audubon SuperValu and managed the meat department. Two sons were born to this union.
The family moved in 1963 to Exira where Max owned and operated the Exira SuperValu. Leola was a homemaker throughout their marriage. They sold their grocery business in 1978, retired and continued to live in Exira until 1995 when they moved to Carroll. Leola and Max enjoyed winters in Mesa, Arizona, when their health permitted. Max died in 1996. Their son Kirk cared for Leola during her later years and was a loyal and devoted companion. Leola eventually moved to Regency Park in Carroll where she had a loving home.
