LEO F. VOLLMER

Funeral services for Leo F. Vollmer were held Monday, December 19, 1983, at 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church of Manning. Celebrant for the services was Reverend Monsignor Dean Walker with music provided by the Sacred Heart Choir.

Interment was held at the Sacred Heart Cemetery of Manning. Casketbearers were Jim Williams, Tom Seidl, Don Roecker, Tom Volquartsen, Phillip Enenbach, and Bob Hansen. A rosary was prayed Sunday evening, December 18, at 7:30 p.m. at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning.

Leo F. Vollmer, son of Frank and Mary (Macke) Vollmer, was born December 5, 1906, in Carroll County, Iowa. He attended school in Manning.

He was united in marriage with Elaine Millerup; they made their home in Manning where their two children were born, John and Janice.

Leo worked for the Manning Creamery Company for several years, and then moved to California where he lived for over forty years. In California he worked as a plant manager-supervisor for two manufacturing companies.

Leo's wife died eight years ago and in 1978, Leo returned to Manning where he made his home. For the past four years he has lived at the Manning Plaza. He died there on Friday evening, December 16, 1983, at the age of 77 years and 11 days.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his daughter, Janice; his parents; by five brothers, Frankie, Joe, Charles, Edwin, and LaVern as an infant; by six sisters, Bertha Kuhl, Flossie Hunter, Margaret Rowedder, Julia "Dollie" McDonough, Isabelle Meiers, and Caroline.

He is survived by his son, John, of California; by five grandchildren; by four brothers, Mike of Austin, Minnesota; Paul of Manning; Franklin of Albert Lea, Minnesota; and Jim of Florida; by one sister, Clara Bargenquast of Perry; by nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relative and friends.

Leo was a member of the Sacred Heart Parish in Manning.
