LENA RANNIGER
Lena Ranniger, 90, of Carroll, died Monday, April 30, 1984, at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 2 at St. Paul Lutheran church with the pastor, the Rev. Donald Wuertz officiating. Diana Michaelis will be organist. Burial will be in the Carroll cemetery. Serving as casketbearers will be Darrell Snyder, Dan Ranniger, Dave Thede, Jeff Wieck, Benney Beyer, and Mike Schmidt.
Visitation at the Twit Funeral Home in Carroll will be between 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. The casket will be moved to the church at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday for visitation.
Lena Ranniger is survived by a son, Arlo Ranniger and his wife Ellie, Des Moines; a daughter, Mrs. Lloyd (Marian) Thede. Carroll, and the following grandchildren: Margaret and Darrell Snyder, Carroll; David and Phyllis Thede, Davenport; Ann and Jeff Wieck, Des Moines; Becky and Dennis Rybicki, Wahiawa, Hawaii; Mary Ranniger, Minneapolis, Minn.; Karen Tjaden, Glidden; Judy Ranniger, Des Moines, and Dan Ranniger, Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ferdinand; sister Mamie; brothers Emil and Rudolph and granddaughter Lisa Thede.
Mrs. Ranniger was born July 5, 1893, in Crawford County, Iowa, daughter of William and Margaret (Karstens) Opperman. She was married to Ferdinand Ranniger on February 11, 1919, at Carroll. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran church and had been a resident of the nursing home for the past 19 years.
