OBITUARY MRS. PETER PLOEN

Services for Mrs. Peter Ploen were held Saturday, February 15, at two o'clock at the Ohde Funeral Home, with Rev. Alexander Wimberly, pastor of the Presbyterian Church in charge. Appropriate selections were given by a voice quartet. Mrs. Ploen passed away late Wednesday afternoon at the Wyatt Memorial Hospital, at the age of 63 years, 4 months, and 6 days, concluding an illness of some five and a half years.

Mrs. Peter Ploen was born Lena Moeller, in Durant, near Davenport, Iowa, October 6, 1877, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. John Moeller. When six years of age she moved with her parents to Plymouth County where they remained until 1889. They then came to Audubon County where she completed her schooling and grew to young womanhood.

In 1903 she was united in marriage to Peter Ploen, after which the young couple engaged in farming in the immediate vicinity of Manning. In 1910 they moved to a farm north of Aspinwall where they lived until 1914, at which time they retired from the farm and moved to Manning where they have since resided. Mrs. Ploen leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, and two sons. Herman and Harry at home, two brothers, Fred and Peter Moeller, both living near Manning, as well as a host of other relatives and friends.

In her failing years the deceased had spent much of her time in hospitals and invalid chair but her cheerfulness and contentment will long be remembered by all who gained her acquaintance.

Interment was made in the Manning Cemetery.
Pallbearers were John Reetz, Harry Raebel, Chas. Brus, Chas. Schmidt, Hans Jurgensen and Henry Brandhorst.

Those who attended the funeral from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Johnk, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Johnk, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Johnk, Mrs. Fred Johnk. Mrs. Herman Johnk, Mrs. Will Dose, Miss Maxine Stamp, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Krueger and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Williams, all of Walnut, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Schneider of Harlan; Mr. and Mrs. Reford Miller of Audubon, and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Sharp of Dow City.


Lena Ploen is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
