Saturday, April 14, 2007, 10:30 AMLavon Maxine, daughter of Charlie and Calla (Gamet) Brimer, was born November 20, 1913, at Soldier, Iowa. She grew up in Ute where she was baptized at the Church of Christ, attended school and graduated from Ute High School. Following her graduation, she attended American Institute of Business in Des Moines and while there she clerked for a state legislator from Ute. After completing her schooling, Lavon worked at the Ute State Bank and then the German Savings Bank in Manning.
On August 10, 1936, Lavon was united in marriage with Willis Hans Puck at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning. She was also confirmed at Zion on April 18, 1937. Lavon and Willis made their home in Manning where they raised their three children and Willis operated an implement business. They were hosts to exchange student Lone (Hansen) Rank of Denmark in 1966-67. Lavon was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School. She was a long time member and served as president of Zion Ladies Guild and Dorcas Society and was director of the Braille Center at Zion for over 40 years.
In her spare time, Lavon enjoyed gardening, tennis, bowling and golfing. She kept her mind active throughout her life and enjoyed bridge, reading, and crossword puzzles.
Lavon's husband Willis died on December 5, 2000 and she was able to remain in their home until shortly before her death on Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at Manning Regional Healthcare Center at the age of 93 years, 4 months and 22 days.
Preceding her in death are her parents; husband; brother Gerald Brimer and his wife Jeanette and brother-in-law Ray Link.
She is survived by her three children: Warren Puck and wife Sue of Manning; Ken Puck and wife Joelle of Manning and Peggy and husband Frank Osdoba of Spirit Lake; eight grandchildren: Andrea and husband Greg Garcia; Nate Puck and wife Marcy; Stephen Puck and wife Jennifer; Andrew Puck; Brandon Puck and wife Heidi; Amanda and husband Jay Kautt; Angela and husband Ryan Ericson; and Daniel Osdoba and wife Amy; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters Norma Link of Arcadia, CA and Phyllis Goar of Seal Beach, CA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
