Lauron Musfeldt
A memorial service for Lauron Musfeldt was held March 24, 2006 at Greggton United Methodist Church in Longview, Texas.
Lauron "Lee" Musfeldt, son of Leroy LaVerne and Verna Marie (Schroeder) MusfeldtFischer, was born March 17, 1937 in Scranton, Iowa. The family moved from Scranton to Jefferson, Iowa, followed by a move in 1940 to a farm southwest of Gray, Iowa. In 1948, the family purchased a farm where Lauron lived until he attended college.
Lauron was confirmed on April 6, 1952, at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa.
Lauron went to country school in Lincoln Township, Audubon County, attended school in Gray, Iowa, and graduated from Manning High School in 1955. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1959 with a degree in Industrial Engineering.
On June 24, 1962, Lauron married Beverly Fischer. A daughter, Janice, and a son, Jim, were born to this union.
During his business career, Lauron worked for John Deere, Signode, FMC and LeTourneau, Inc. While living in the Chicago area, Lauron served on the Metropolitan Planning Commission; helped with the Boy Scouts and served as United Way Chairman. While living in Longview, Texas, Lauron served on the Longview Board of Adjustments and volunteered to help people displaced by hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Lauron loved golfing, playing bridge, traveling and volunteering at the church and in the community. He was a member of Greggton United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher, a Sunday School teacher and as a member on the Finance and Memorial Committees.
At the time of his death, Lauron was living in Longview, Texas. After a brief illness, Lauron passed away on March 21, 2006 at the age of 69 years and 4 days.
Preceding Lauron in death are his parents.
Lauron is survived by his wife, Beverly, daughter Janice Musfeldt and husband David Bernholdt of Knoxville, TN; son Jim Musfeldt and wife Belle of Pleasanton, CA; brother Ralph Musfeldt and wife Betty of Lafayette, CO; brother Dale Musfeldt and wife Georgia of Ankeny, IA; brother Roger Musfeldt and wife Jo Ann of Omaha, NE; uncle Alvin Musfeldt of Irwin, IA; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
