Laura Schulz

Funeral services for Laura J. Schulz were held Tuesday, January 12, 1993, at 1:30 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa. Pastor Bruce Laabs officiated the service. Interment was held in the Manning City Cemetery in Manning, Iowa, with Duane Deist, James Linde, John Linde, Robert Linde, William Linde, and Vernon Wagner as casketbearers. Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon was in charge of arrangements.

Laura J. Schulz, the daughter of William and Aerie (Auen) Linde, was born March 1915, in Arcadia Township, Carroll County, Iowa, and died January 9, 1993, at her home in Audubon, Iowa at the age of 77 years, 10 months, and 2 days.

She was baptized in May of 1915 at the Presbyterian Church in Arcadia, Iowa and confirmed in 1944 at the Trinity Lutheran Church north of Gray, Iowa. She attended rural schools in Carroll County. Laura then helped operate the family farm.

On December 12, 1935 she was united in marriage to Gerhard Schulz in Carroll, Iowa. They farmed in the Gray, Iowa area, then moved to Audubon area and farmed south of Audubon. They moved into Audubon in 1956. Gerhard died December 30, 1956. Laura worked at various jobs, then in 1967 was employed by the Audubon County Memorial Hospital in the housekeeping department. She retired in 1985 as head of the housekeeping department.

Laura was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Audubon. She was a member of the Audubon County Hospital Auxiliary, a member of the Sunshine Club and the Rural Homemakers Club.

Preceding her in death in addition to her husband were her parents; her brothers: Marvin Linde, Raymond Linde, Elmer Linde and her sister-in-law, Gladys Linde.
Survivors include her son and his wife, Roger and Julie Schulz of Audubon; her grandchildren: Kimberly Schulz of Greeley, Colorado; Kristi Schulz of Des Moines, Iowa; John Schulz of Audubon; her brother and his wife, Art and Docia Linde of Harlan; her sister-in-law, Catherine Hansen of Harlan; nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and neighbors.


Laura Schultz is buried in the Manning City Cemetery.
