Last Rites For
Mrs. L. Musfeldt This Afternoon

It is with sadness in our heart that we are called upon to chronicle the death of a wife and mother who lovingly and dutifully aimed to fulfill her duties on this earth as God has designated in his laws, that bind the ties in wedlock and make us, happier as the declining years appear. In excellent health but a few days ago she now is with her Master who has the power of calling his children to His home as He sees fit. Her life was brief and dutiful. She lived for her family and loved ones; she found time to appease and invigorate her soup as it longed for refreshments through the word of God. A place in her home is vacant but God will lend His aid, so that the bereaved family will bravely bear this great burden of sorrow.

Laura Musfeldt, nee Schroeder was born in Washington Township in Carroll County, Iowa, to Jasper and Alwine (Sievers) Schroeder, on May 17, 1902. She enjoyed her childhood days on the farm with her parents where she also received her education in the country school. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On February 22, 1922, she was united in holy wedlock with Mr. Louie Musfeldt to which union there were born three children, of which one preceded the Mother in death about three years ago. Those who are left to mourn her death besides the bereaved husband are; a son, Merlin, and a daughter, Phyllis. She also leaves her mother, Mrs. Jasper Schroeder; two brothers John and Julius Schroeder; three sisters, Mrs. Anita Nulle, Mrs. Henry Joens, and Mrs. Edna Vollstedt, besides many other relatives and friends.

About a week ago, Mrs. Musfeldt became ill with the flu and in spite of the greatest endeavor of skilled physicians and loving hands, there was apparently no power on earth to restore her health. Specialists were called but to no avail. She passed away early Tuesday morning, January 23, 1934, at the age of 31 years, 9 months and 6 days.

The funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, January 25 at 2:00 p.m. at the Lutheran Church, Pastor John M. Ansorge officiating. Interment was made at the Manning cemetery, and many friends were present to pay their last respect to their beloved neighbor and friend.

The entire community extends its deepest sympathy to the bereaved family in their hour of sorrow.
