Laura Muhlbauer

Laura M. Muhlbauer, age 87, of Carroll, Iowa passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, November 23, 2009, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Halbur with Fr. Dale Reiff as Celebrant. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:00 P.M. on Sunday where there will be a rosary at 3:30 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 P.M. by St. Augustine Parish. Organist for the Mass will be Julie Sibbel, soloist will be Kathy Halbur, and the St. Augustine Choir will sing. Lector will be Rick Halbur and gift bearers will be Laura Pinneke, Jeana Muhlbauer, Rachael Muhlbauer, and Barbara Gerbino - Bevins. Eucharistic Minister will be Jean Feuerbach and Mass Servers will be Lauren and David Wendl. Casket bearers will be Kent Halbur, Tom Muhlbauer, Lucas Wendl, Scott Girvan, Nic Muhlbauer, and John Feuerbach. Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery in Halbur.

Born on June 2, 1922, at Rural Templeton, Iowa, she was the daughter of Wendelin T. and Clara (Willenborg) Feilmeier. She grew up in the Templeton - Roselle area where she attended school as a girl. She was married to Anthony Muhlbauer on February 12, 1946, at Holy Angel's Catholic Church in Roselle. The couple farmed in the Manning and Halbur areas. Laura was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church while living near Halbur, and St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Carroll. She served on the ladies guild in Halbur and was a member of the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, quilting, flowers, cooking, baking, and traveling.

Surviving are a daughter Susan Muhlbauer of Glenwood, Iowa; a daughter Pat Halbur and her husband Marvin of Manning; a daughter Diane Pinneke of Carroll; a son Tony Muhlbauer and his wife Deb of Arcadia; a daughter Jean Feuerbach and her husband Ron of Omaha; a son Paul Muhlbauer of Gillette, Wyoming; a daughter Carol Wendl and her husband Jim of Panora; a son Ken Muhlbauer of Fairbanks, Alaska; a daughter Cyndi Muhlbauer of Omaha; 24 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister Rita Dentlinger and her husband Jim of Glidden; a brother Alfred Feilmeier and his wife Irene of Westside; a brother Bernard Feilmeier of Carroll; a brother Leonard Fielmeier and his wife Marcia of Glidden; a brother Wendell "Junior" Feilmeier and his wife Margie of Carroll; a sister-in-law Marie Wendl and her husband Vic of Carroll; a sister-in-law Rose Nulle and her husband Wes of Manning; a sister-in-law Iola Muhlbauer of Manning; a sister-in-law Erna Odendahl of Manning; a sister-in-law Phyllis Muhlbauer of Manilla; a brother- in- law Ed Lammers of St. Charles, Missouri; and a sister-in-law Janis Feilmeier of Eldora, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1980, a grandson Joe Muhlbauer, a brother Rudolph Feilmeier, a sister Marie Lammers and a brother Earl Feilmeier.
