Kirk Duane, son of Max and Leola (Lueth) Timmerman, was born October 15, 1957 in Exira, Iowa. He grew up in Exira where his father owned and operated the Exira SuperValu. Kirk attended school in Exira, where he enjoyed his studies and participating in drama productions. After hours he worked at his dad's grocery store. He graduated cum laude from high school in 1976. Kirk went on to complete his education at Drake University in Des Moines, graduating with a BA in Accounting in 1980. He was employed by AT&T in Des Moines as an auditor for a number of years before going to work for Ladin Industries (later Lortex, Inc.), a Des Moines textile manufacturer, as a Revelation database programmer for their custom textile-conversion software.
He married Colleen Merk at Ross Calvary United Methodist Church on May 26, 1979. They lived in Des Moines, later in the Fox Creek development outside Booneville, Iowa.
He moved back to Exira after his divorce in 1989 to help his parents. When his father became ill, they moved to Carroll for easier access to his doctors there. Kirk helped care for his parents and visited his mother often at the Regency Park Nursing Home in Carroll where she lived and received excellent care when she could no longer be at home.
Preceding him in death are his parents and brother, John in infancy. Kirk is survived by his Aunt Patricia Lueth of Corona del Mar, California; eight first cousins, other relatives and friends.
