Kenneth Shue
Graveside services for Kenneth Shue were held on Thursday, October 13, 2005 at Lincoln Township Cemetery near Gray, Iowa. Pastor Patrick Sparling of Zion Lutheran Church in Manning officiated. Casket bearers were Mike Ennenbach, Randy Kurth, Jobi Gordon, Glen Gordon, and Robert Jorgensen. Ohde Funeral Home, Manning, Iowa in charge of arrangements.
Kenneth Melvin, son of Carl and Lena Shue, was born October 25, 1920, at Cabel County, West Virginia. Kenneth raised tobacco with his family and worked as a logger.
In 1962, Kenneth was united in marriage with Janice Ruth Riley. The family made their home in West Virginia and this marriage ended in divorce in 1979. In 1982, Kenneth moved to Iowa to be near his daughters. He made his home in the Coon Rapids and Manning areas.
Kenneth enjoyed hunting turkey, fishing and Red Cardinal birds. He would wave at everyone and never met a stranger.
In December of 2001, Kenneth entered the Manning Plaza Nursing Home, where he died on Wednesday, October 12, 2005, at the age of 84 years, 11 months, and 17 days,
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Alva Shue and a half-brother Ayton Shue.
He is survived by three daughters: Diana Shue of Denison; Juanita and her husband Conrad Kurth of Audubon; Sharron Shariar of West Virginia; a son Kenneth M. Shue, Jr. of Minnesota; four grandchildren: Rodney Kurth of Korea; Randy Kurth, Tracie Kurth, and Jessica Kurth, all of Audubon; other relatives and friends.
