Mrs. Ruhde, 65, Taken by Death
Mrs. Katherine Ruhde, 65, died last night, September 21, 1949, at a Tryon Nursing Home in Carroll. She had been ill two years, having suffered a series of strokes.

Funeral services are set for 2 p.m., Saturday with the Rev. Brown Garlock, Methodist Pastor, officiating, with burial in the Manning Cemetery.

Mrs. Ruhde was born in Crawford County, January 1, 1884, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William F. "Preacher" and Margaretha (Ewoldt) Martens. Her husband, Henry P. Ruhde, died 17 years ago. They had been married at Manning in 1905.

Survivors include four children: William, Manilla; Henry, Clarinda; Herman and Emil, Manning; 12 grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Katherine (Martens) Ruhde, 65, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ohde funeral home, with the Rev. Brown Garlock of the Methodist Church officiating.

Music will be furnished by the church choir. Burial is to be in the Manning Cemetery.

Mrs. Ruhde was born January 1, 1884, in Crawford County, and in 1905 was married in Manning to Henry Peter Ruhde, who died 17 years ago.

Mrs. Ruhde suffered a stroke two years ago. On Saturday she became seriously ill and died Wednesday night, September 21, 1949, at the Tryon Nursing home in Carroll.

She is survived by four sons: William of Manilla, Henry of Clarinda, Emil and Herman of Manning; twelve grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Dick Fonken; and five brothers, Bill and Emil Martens of Manning, Henry and Gus Martens of Carroll, and Harry Martens of Buck Grove.
