Katherine McGrane Dies

Last Monday afternoon occurred the death of Mrs. Katie McGrane (September 25, 1824 - April 18, 1910 Catholic Cemetery records) at the home of Mrs. Ben Kenney at the advanced age of 85 years. For the past two weeks she has been failing fast particularly caused by heart trouble.

All that loving hands and skilled physicians could do would not stay the hand of death and she peacefully passed away that evening. Besides a large, number of friends left to mourn her death, she leaves the following sons and daughters. Mr. John McGrane of this place, Matt McGrane of Sioux City who was here at the time of her death, Mrs. Dorethy of Sioux City, who was also here, Mrs. Ben Kenney of this place, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Henry McGrane of Sioux City, was also here at her death. The Catholic Priest of Dedham preached the funeral at the church and her body was laid to rest in the Catholic Cemetery east of Manning. All who have known the deceased say she was a good mother and a accommodating neighbor. The Monitor extends to the bereaved family in their hour of trial its heart felt sympathy.


Katherine McGrane is buried in the Manning Catholic Cemetery.
