Obituary of Jurgen Nicholas (Nick) Wunderlich

Jurgen N. Wunderlich was born in Germany February 8, 1852. He died at Council Bluffs, January 7, 1930, at the age of 77 years, 10 months and 29 days.

When 16 years of age he came alone to America. He worked for awhile near Davenport in Eastern Iowa, then came west to Manning where he lived a number of years. He was married at Manning, July 4, 1888, to Miss Sarah J. Thomas, and four children were born to this union - George N., Council Bluffs, Mrs. W. F. Points, Carroll, J.A. and Herman, Council Bluffs. Mrs. Wunderlich died September 15, 1910.

He and his family came to Logan in 1899 and lived here until 1916 when they moved to Pottawattamie County where he spent the remaining years of his life.

He joined the Methodist Episcopal church when a young man. Many of the members here remember Brother Wunderlich and his helpfulness in the church work here.

His health began to fail last spring and he gradually grew weaker until a few weeks ago he went to the hospital where he passed away Tuesday of last week.

He leaves to mourn his departure four children, named above, five grandchildren, three sisters, one brother and many relatives and friends.

The funeral service was held at the Methodist church in Logan Saturday at 10:30 and was conducted by W.N. Graves. The burial was in Logan Cemetery.
