Judith Louise, adopted daughter of John and Theo (Jensen) Sortedahl, was born October 2, 1942, at Bouton, Iowa. She attended country school and graduated from Audubon High School. Judy worked as a key-punch operator in Des Moines at an insurance company.

On June 25, 1961, Judy was united in marriage with Evans Samuel (Sam) Musfeldt at Our Savior Church in Audubon. They lived on an acreage near Audubon until 1990 when they moved to Manning. Judy worked for Dr. John Edgerton for a time and also managed the Manning Casey's store for 14 years. Before retiring she worked in the dietary and laundry departments at the Manning Regional Healthcare Center.

Judy was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and faithful volunteer at church, including the Altar Guild and the VFW Auxiliary. Judy enjoyed gardening and canning food - knowledge she passed on to the next generations. She was an avid cook and baker, and she was known for her cherry/mulberry pie. Judy loved her whole family unconditionally.

In 2014 Judy battled and beat breast cancer, but the treatments took a toll on her health. On August 5, 2016, Judy died at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa. She was 73 years, 8 months, and 3 days of age.

She was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law Herman and Lydia Musfeldt; four biological sisters and two biological brothers; and granddaughter Carlee Petersen.

Judy is survived by her husband Sam Musfeldt of Manning; children: Sheryl Musfeldt of Manning; Jon Musfeldt (Melanie) of Boone; Shannon Nicholson (Kelly) of Adair; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren with two more expected; biological sister Mary Wigness of Valley, Nebraska; adoptive brother Lance Sortedahl of Omaha, Nebraska; her beloved dog Gretchen; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
