Mrs. Stein died Sunday evening at Manning General Hospital and Mr. Stein died Monday morning at the University of Nebraska Hospital in Omaha.
Arrangements are pending at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning.
Joseph was born May 18, 1914, in Templeton, and died November 6, 1978. Zita was born September 15, 1916, in Milford, Iowa, and died November 5, 1978. Both are buried in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Templeton.

Joint services for Joseph W. and Zita D. (Hinners) Stein, 64 and 62
respectively, of Manning will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart
Church in Manning. Msgr. Dean Walker will officiate.
The couple died as the result of a car accident Sunday near Defiance. Mrs. Stein died Sunday evening, November 5, 1978, at Manning General Hospital. Her husband died Monday morning, November 6, 1978, at University of Nebraska Hospitals in Omaha.
Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Templeton.
A military honor guard for Mr. Stein will be formed at the church and cemetery by the Manning V.F.W. and American Legion Posts.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning. Rosaries will be recited Wednesday at the funeral home at 4 p.m. by the Catholic Daughters of America, 8 p.m. which will include a parish scripture service and 8:45 p.m. by the Altar Society.
Mr. Stein was born May 18, 1914, at Templeton, the son of Peter and Anna (Hochstatter) Stein. Mrs. Stein, the daughter of William and Anna (Schroeder) Hinners, was born September 15, 1916, at Milford, Iowa. The couple was married June 16, 1936.
Mr. Stein graduated from barber school in Des Moines and served his apprenticeship with Clyde Kenyon in Manning. He then had a barbershop in Portsmouth before returning to Manning where he was in the profession 33 years. Following his retirement, he worked as a salesman for Manning Motor Co.
Mr. and Mrs. Stein were members of Sacred Heart Church in Manning. Mr. Stein was a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. Mrs. Stein was a member of Catholic Daughters of America and the Altar Society.
The couple is survived by five sons, William of Underwood, Robert and Lee of Omaha, Jon of Moorhead, Minnesota, and Lynn of Manning; six grandchildren.
Mr. Stein also is survived by his mother, Anna Stein of the Manning Plaza.
He was preceded in death by his father, one son, Joseph in infancy and one brother, Ted.
Mrs. Stein also is survived by three sisters, Sister Winifred Hinners of La Crosse, Wisconsin; Mrs. Colette Bock of Carroll and Gunilda Hinners of Halbur; three brothers, Gilbert of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Art and Roman of Halbur.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son and three brothers, Ed, Vic, and Bill Hinners.
