Terrell, Texas (January 17, 2021) A pedestrian accident reported on Friday morning claimed one woman's life in the Terrell area. At around 8:30 a.m., on January 15, the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene of a crash on Town North Drive.

Reports from authorities show that 69-year-old Joleen Steffes Rohe was walking south across town North Drive in Terell. As the woman attempted to cross the roadway, she was struck by a 2003 Mercedes passenger vehicle, which was driving eastbound in the 300 block of the roadway.

Rohe sustained fatal injuries in the accident and was immediately pronounced deceased. The driver of the Mercedes remained at the scene and spoke with law enforcement. At this time, the crash remains under investigation.

We would like to offer our condolences to the family of Joleen Steffes Rohe at this time.

Obituary for Jolene Rohe
Jolene Steffes Rohe, of Terrell, passed away on January 15, 2021. Jolene was born January 26, 1951, in Carroll, Iowa, to Alvin and Hilda Steffes, both of whom preceded her in death along with her nephew, Cory DeBoth.

Jolene moved from Nebraska to Texas in 1973 and worked for Muse Metal Laboratories as the Office Manager for over 48 years until semi-retiring. She continued to work part-time keeping the office running smoothly until her full retirement. Jolene filled her days with helping her neighbors (whom she cared for as if they were family), spending precious time with her family and friends and bragging on her grandkids. Her beautiful smile made everyone's day brighter and her generous heart made her the first to help in any situation. Our hearts were not prepared for the loss of our precious Mom and Grammy. Jolene was vibrant and full of joy, always putting others before herself. She had an amazing way of making everyone she met feel like they had been a friend forever. Her mark on this world is everlasting and everyone touched by her is blessed for the time shared. She will be greatly missed.

Jolene is survived by her son, Todd Rohe and Camille, of Sunnyvale, Texas; daughter, Tina Spain and husband, Curtis, of Forney, Texas; grandchildren: Maddy, Mason, and Mabry Spain; the father of her children, Dennis Rohe and wife, Teri, of Grand Saline, Texas; brothers: Jerry Steffes and wife, Charlene, of Omaha, Nebraska; Larry Steffes and wife Ielene, of Okoboji, Iowa; Glen Steffes of Carroll, Iowa; Gene Steffes and wife, Sheri, of Manning, Iowa; sisters: Karen DeBoth of Manning, Iowa; and Donna Ocken and husband Gary of Casa Grande, Arizona; as well as many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends, all of whom will continue to cherish Jolene's memory and legacy of unconditional love.
