LIFE STORY OF JOHN MEGGERS, 49
Johnnie William Meggers son of Mr. and Mrs. Gustav Meggers was born November 11, 1905, Iowa Township, Crawford County. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Denison in 1921.

December 14, 1927, he was united in marriage to Edna Lamaack at Denison. For 11 years they lived in Manilla and farmed near Manilla for seven years. In 1946, they moved to Botna.

He was preceded in death by in an infant sister, his father, Gustav, and a twin daughter.

Survivors include his wife, Edna, son, Wayne and wife, Hazel, and granddaughter, Bonnie, also his mother, Mrs. Minna Meggers, sister, Mrs. Ed Erps (Malinda), a brother Lester Meggers.

He had been in ill health for several years, having been to the Rochester Clinic to receive help. About two months ago his condition became serious and for (couldn't read number ?) weeks he was a patient at the St. Anthony hospital in Carroll.

He died January 11, 1955, at the age of 49 years and 2 months.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon January 15 from the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning.

Louis H. Miller of Omaha, pastor of the Botna church was in charge. Pallbearers were his cousins: Louie P.H. Jahn, Hugo P.G., Roy H. Jahn, Herbert Kuhl, W.F. Meggers, and Donald Meggers.

Those attending services from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Meggers and daughter, Bonnie of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Adele Mordhorst, Cheyenne, Wyoming, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Wiese of Flandreau, South Dakota, and Mrs. George Relf, Egan, South Dakota.

Funeral services for Johnnie William Meggers, 48, who died January 11, 1955, at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, will be held Saturday, November 15 at 2 p.m. at the Ohde Funeral Home here. Louis H. Miller of Omaha, pastor of the Botna Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Manning.

Mr. Meggers was born November 11, 1905, in Iowa Township. He was married December 14, 1927, to Edna Lamaack at Denison. The couple lived in Manila for 11 years; then farmed for 7 years. They moved to Botna in 1946.

Mr. Meggers was confirmed and baptized in the Lutheran faith at Denison in 1921.

He was taken to the Carroll Hospital December 1, 1954.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Wayne, Council Bluffs; a granddaughter, Bonnie; his mother, Mrs. Minnie Meggers; a sister, Mrs. Ed (Melinda) Erps; and a brother, Lester Meggers, all of Manning.

He was preceded in death by his father, Gustav; and a daughter, Wayne's twin, who died at birth.
