John Stuhr Dies as Result Injuries
John Stuhr, 67, 1545 Trade Street, died late Saturday, January 20, 1945, as a result of injuries received in an accident at his work at the California Packing company Friday.

Stuhr fell from a ramp in the warehouse of the company and broke a leg. He was immediately rushed to a Salem Hospital and seemed in good condition, but failed to revive from surgical treatment late Saturday.

Son of Juergen Heinrich and Ida "Lena" (Clearson) Stuhr, he was born December 25, 1877, in Germany.

John married Mary Kusel in Manning, Iowa, in 1908.

Stuhr had been an employee of the company for the past two seasons.

He is survived by his wife, Mary of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Velma Knapke and Mrs. Dorothy Nixon of Salem; five sons Clifford, of Sublimity, Marvin and Herbert of Salem, Leonard with the U.S. Army at Ft. Knox, Kentucky, and Robert with the U.S. Army overseas.

Other survivors are three brothers, Henry, Chris, and Charles Stuhr of Manning, Iowa; seven sisters, Mrs. Mollie Bohnsack, Mrs. Louise Windish, Mrs. Minnie Frahm, Mrs. Lena Coleman, and Mrs. Tillie Bohnsack, all of Mason City, Iowa; Mrs. Doris Stoelk of Manning, Iowa; and Mrs. Eva Kruse of Carrol, Iowa; and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later from the Clough Barrick company.
