MANNING - John Struve, 87, of Manning died in his sleep early Sunday, March 28,
at the Manning Plaza nursing home, where he had resided for the last two
months. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Manning
United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Andrew Siewart-Morris
officiating. Burial will be in the Manning Cemetery, with nephews as
pallbearers. Friends may call at the Ohde Funeral Home here after 7 p.m. Monday.
Mr. Struve, son of Claus and Dorothea (Wunderlich) Struve, was born in Ewoldt Township, Carroll County, on January 12, 1884. He attended Ewoldt No. 6 rural school. On March 9, 1910, he was married to Ida Puck, and the couple noted their 61st wedding anniversary earlier this month. They farmed east of Manning until moving into town in 1945. Surviving with his wife are a daughter, Mrs. Elmer (Elvia) Richards of Manning; three grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and a brother, George Struve of Carroll. Another brother, Herman Struve, and an infant sister preceded him in death.
