Funeral services for John Schrum were held Tuesday, April 10, 1979, 2:00 p.m., at the Ohde Funeral Home in Manning. Officiating was the Reverend Donald Jones of the. United Methodist Church. Organist was Mrs. Bonita Hagedorn, vocalist was Mrs. Judy Joens. Interment was in Manning Cemetery with grandsons as casketbearers. Ohde Funeral Home in Manning was in charge of arrangements.

John Christian, son of Fredrick and Katherine Schumann Schrum, was born July 4, 1889, in Crawford, County, Iowa. He attended the schools near his home and was united in marriage with Emma Heesch October 22, 1913. They farmed near Manning and operated a dairy until retirement.
