John Ranniger Tuesday
John Jasper Ranniger was born February 22, 1853, in Holsenindorf, Germany, and died at his home at Manning, Iowa, October 13th, 1928, at the age of 75 years 7 months and 22 days. At the age of 21, he came with his parents to this country and settled on a farm near Davenport, Iowa. On January 22nd, 1875, he was united in marriage to Miss Antje Hadenfeldt. After spending 6 years of their married life on a farm in Clinton county, they emigrated west and settled on a farm in Washington Township, Carroll county, Iowa, about seven miles north of Manning, farming there until 1918 when they retired and moved to Manning, where they have lived since in their beautiful home on center street.
This union was blessed with 8 children, three daughters and five sons, two of which died in infancy.
He leaves to mourn his death, his aged widow, two daughters and four sons; these are: Mrs. Alvina Bolte of Hornick, Iowa; Mrs. Louise Bolte of Wheatland, Wyoming; Henry, Emil, and Ferdinand of Manning, and John W. of Sanborn, Minnesota, also one brother, William, of Aspinwall and 28 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
The funeral services were held from the Presbyterian church Tuesday afternoon and interment was made at the Hayes township cemetery, the Reverend Howland, pastor of the church, conducting the services.
The deceased was one of the early settlers in this community and took interest in the welfare of the community and done his bit at all times to further progress and betterment. He was a hard worker and an honest, up-right man. He lived in this community for 46 years.
