John "Jack" Mohr, 77, of Carroll, died Tuesday, July 21, 1981, at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 24, at Zion Lutheran church in Arcadia with the Rev. L.W. Sawhill officiating. Burial will be in the Arcadia Cemetery under the direction of the Ohde Funeral Home of Manning. Carla Ehlers will be organist and Mrs. William Jentzen will sing.
Serving as pallbearers will be Russ Mohr, Don Mohr, Merlin Rostermundt, Bob Mohr, Errol Wegner, and James Wegner.
Surviving are his wife Elsie, Carroll; four children: Jack Jr., Denver, Colorado; Mrs. Warren (Mary Alice) Noelk, Glendora, California; Ronnie Mohr, Norwich, Connecticut; Mrs. Jerry (Nancy) Vinke, Naval Air Station, Lemoore, California; 10 grandchildren; three brothers: George, Manning; Chris, Council Bluffs; and Kenneth Mohr, Minneapolis, Minnesota, three sisters; Mrs. Herman (Leona) Asmus, Burlington, Iowa; Mrs. Verna Wegner, Manning; and Mrs. Fred (Marcella) Asmus, Columbus Junction, Iowa; nieces and nephews.
Mr. Mohr was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Emil, and a sister Mrs. Elsie Siem.
He was born February 12, 1904, in Crawford County, a son of Chris and Marie (Nuppnau) Mohr. He received his education in rural schools. He was married October 14, 1930, to Elsie Rostermundt at Glidden. He farmed until 1950 when he moved to Manning. After leaving the farm, he became a feed salesman for Morman Feed Company at Walnut Grove. From 1965 until he retired in 1973, he worked in road construction in Iowa and Nebraska. He moved to Carroll in 1974 and worked part time as a driver for the circulation department of the Daily Times Herald. He had been in failing health for several months.
